Turkmen Cinema Days are being held in Türkiye

Between 16–18 February 2026, the Days of Turkmen Cinema in the Republic of Türkiye are being held in Ankara. This event has become an important cultural occasion contributing to the development and strengthening of humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.

The Cinema Days are organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye in cooperation with the International Organization of TURKSOY.

On February 16, a conference was held at the TURKSOY headquarters within the framework of the Cinema Days, dedicated to the 2026 slogan, “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan
— Homeland of Purposeful Heavenly Horses
” as well as to the 100th anniversary of the Türkmenfilm Association.

The conference was attended by heads and representatives of state and public institutions of Türkiye, prominent scholars and writers, figures of culture and arts, as well as members of the media.

In his speech, the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, A. Shamyradov, emphasized that the 2026 slogan reflects the country’s unwavering commitment to the principles of Independence and Permanent Neutrality, serves as a symbol of striving for new achievements, and holds significant importance for the further development of national culture and arts.

The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, A. Kakayev, underlined the important role of cinematography in preserving historical and cultural heritage, strengthening the spiritual values of society, and promoting the rich culture of the Turkmen people in the international arena.

As part of the conference, films describing the history and main stages of development of Türkmenfilm were screened, along with a documentary about the achievements of the “Galkynyş” National Equestrian Games Group.

On the same day, a regular meeting of the “Magtymguly Pyragy” Scientific Research Center operating under the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye was held.

During the meeting, the film “At-Myrat,” dedicated to the Akhal-Teke horses—one of the key symbols of Turkmenistan’s national cultural heritage—was screened.

Speakers noted that studying and promoting the literary heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy holds particular importance as the spiritual foundation of the national identity of the Turkmen people.

The main event of the Turkmen Cinema Days was the gala screening of the feature film “The Composer,” held on February 17 at the Yaşar Kemal Cultural Center in Ankara.

The screening was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations, representatives of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, as well as numerous cinema enthusiasts.

Prior to the screening, a photo exhibition dedicated to the 2026 slogan was organized at the cultural center.

In his remarks, Sultan Raev stated that holding the Turkmen Cinema Days in Türkiye represents an important step toward strengthening cultural ties among Turkic peoples.

Additionally, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, Nadir Alpaslan, emphasized that Türkiye attaches great importance to developing cultural cooperation with Turkmenistan and supports joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

The Turkmen Cinema Days held in Ankara made a significant contribution to strengthening the friendly and longstanding fraternal relations between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples, expanding cultural exchange, and promoting Turkmenistan’s rich cultural heritage.
