DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN PARTICIPATED TO THE MEETING OF THE EU–CENTRAL ASIA WORKING GROUP ON ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

On February 12–13, 2020, the delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the ninth session of the meeting of the EU–Central Asia working group on environment and climate change that was held in Brussels.

The specialists and experts working in the sphere of nature protection, climate change and water resources of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union took part in the session. 

The meeting was organized in the framework of the EU–Central Asia Platform on cooperation in the area of environment and water resources which encompasses the following priority fields: the management of nature protection activities, closed cycle economy, sustainable production and consumption, climate change and water resources management.

The participants of the meeting discussed the progress achieved by the Central Asian countries since 2015 in the area of nature protection, climate change and water resources management in accordance with the conclusions made at the sixth High-Level Conference EU–Central Asia and the recommendations developed by the EU–Central Asia working group on environment and climate change.

An exchange of views took place and the priorities for future cooperation between the EU and Central Asian states were determined on a wide range of issues pertaining to nature protection, climate change and water resources. 

Upon the outcomes of the sitting of the working group, the Technical Assignment and the working procedures were approved, as well as the Programme of the EU–Central Asia working group on environment and climate change was adopted.
