The Governor of Istanbul visited the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye

On February 15, 2024, a meeting was held between the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Türkiye Muhammetnur Ovezov and the Governor of Istanbul Davud Gul.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of interaction in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, in particular, prospects for cooperation in the field of education, strengthening relations between higher educational institutions of the two countries.

The Consul General of Turkmenistan also noted that the year 2024 in Turkmenistan is held under the motto “The Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi,” which implies the holding of various events, both at the national and international levels, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker of the East. It was emphasized that a clear indication of the world recognition of Magtymguly’s work is the announcement of this year by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) as “The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Fragi.” Along with this, the importance of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau, declared this year as the cultural capital of the Turkic world, was noted.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the progress of the implementation of the joint plan of activities between the Consulate General of Turkmenistan and the Istanbul Municipality for 2024.
